I stumbled across this rarely seen film years ago on A&E or Bravo (when they were first class networks and advertisement free) and have never forgotten it. The details are sketchy now. But the film clearly recorded that, in an effort to cope with unrelenting mental agony, these ex-Vietnam soldiers drove themselves into deep, reclusive wilderness life styles after leaving the military.

James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix, November 27, 1942 – September 18, 1970) was an American guitarist and singer-songwriter. He is widely considered to be the greatest electric guitarist in musical history, and one of the most influential musicians of his era across a range of genres. After initial success in Europe with his group The Jimi Hendrix Experience, he achieved fame in the United States following his 1967 performance at the Monterey Pop Festival. Later, Hendrix headlined the iconic 1969 Woodstock Festival and the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival. He often favored raw overdriven amplifiers with high gain and treble and helped develop the previously undesirable technique of guitar amplifier feedback. Hendrix, as well as his friend Eric Clapton, popularized use of the wah-wah pedal in mainstream rock which he often used to deliver an exaggerated pitch in his solos, particularly with high bends, complex guitar playing, and use of legato. As a record producer, Hendrix also broke new ground in using the recording studio as an extension of his musical ideas. He was one of the first to experiment with stereophonic phasing effects for rock recording. Hendrix was influenced by blues artists such as B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Albert King and Elmore James, rhythm and blues and soul guitarists Curtis Mayfield and Steve Cropper, and the jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery. Hendrix (who was then known as 'Maurice James') began dressing and wearing a moustache like Little Richard when he performed and recorded in his band from March 1, 1964 through to the spring of 1965. In 1966, Hendrix stated, "I want to do with my guitar what Little Richard does with his voice."

Richard Marx (born Richard Noel Marx, genus. September 16, 1963) - American author and performer of slow ballads. In the mid-1980s, Marx can be heard on vocals at concerts of popular artists such as Madonna and Whitney Houston. He sang with Lionel Richie while recording his superhits «All Night Long» (1984). Then he began to write personal songs, originally performed koie group Chicago and the king of love songs Kenny Rogers.
In 1987 he finally released the debut album of Marx. He made the young singer a superstar, and soon three of his songs - «Hold On to the Nights», «Satisfied» and «Right Here Waiting» - were at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 (the official U.S. charts).
During the 1990s the public gradually cooled to the solo works of Marx, who once again began to began to write songs for other, more famous artists. So for example, he wrote and produced for the Sarah Brightman song «The Last Words You Said», in the way he sang a duet with Sarah, in 1999, and in 2000 wrote the music for «To Where You Are» for Josh Groban.
On the 49th awards ceremony, "Grammy" (2004), Marx has been awarded one of the most prestigious nominations - "Song of the Year" (written for for the late Luther Vandrosca song «Dance with My Father»).
