A workout technique that targets the three lower body while increasing core strength and improve functional fitness (the force required in daily activities). For variety and motivation, this video shows three distinct segments - you can do them all or just one (each segment has a short warm up and recharge). The first section uses a medicine ball, he has a few jumps and moves power. The second part uses a stability ball, he has many more basic movements leg squats and hamstring curls. The third segment uses an X-ertube and a step, it mainly focuses on your buttocks. Requires a ball 2-4 lb medicine ball stability and X-ertube and a step-bench. Includes a bonus 14 mins of gliding training (which requires special ''slipped disc'').

In this video[i], instructor Mindy Mylrea has four intermediate to advanced options toning / strengthening the lower body. Instead of working in this region with traditionally heavy, she joined another piece of fitness equipment in each segment, which works the muscles in unique ways. I have split the four segments of this DVD below.
Medicine Ball, 14 minutes. Hold a weighted ball, Mindy uses a combination of traditional toning exercises (eg squats, lunges) with jumps / moves plyometrics, cardio-effect box. Many movements are functional in nature, including a one-legged squat with a lift dead slots formed at different angles (known as ''reel'' here), and an increase of torque with the ball between your knees.
Stability Ball, 18.5 minutes. This segment was made half standing, half on the floor. The work included standing squats while holding the ball, one-legged squats with one foot on the ball (in different directions), and an inner thigh squeeze. There was construction on the bridge, sitting on the ball and then further work on the bridge lying with your feet on the ball - it was so difficult that I was unable to complete all the repetitions. Some short stretches sitting enter this segment.
Tubes and Step, 13.5 minutes. Most of this segment could be made without the stage or to substitute another short platform. Use long-handled pipe, Mindy began standing on stage with the tube under his feet for squats, possibly more side to side movement and abduction, she drops the hose leg swings on either side step. Place one foot on the step with this foot under the tube, it splits, the addition of a place in the knee, leg extension, then a one-legged dead lift for a dip back. The final moves involve securing the tube in step, and then placing the handle on an equal supply and extensions, the segment ends with swings and stretches for the legs up.
Glider, 13.5 minutes. This segment uses Mindy slipped disc, but you can replace the rags (on a smooth floor) or paper plates (on carpet). The first 8 mins standing work and is very similar to previous videos of Mindy slides, consisting mainly of squats and lunges. There are a couple of single pass here, including a one-legged squat to pick up the hard / raise it rushes and alternate head with the heel (rather than the ball of the foot) on the disk. The ground segment includes the work of the bridge and a slide in / out on the side with the final stretch on the floor at the end.
Overall, this video gives some excellent alternatives to tone the lower body. While some of these exercises may seem easy at first compared to the heavy weight training, they will target and challenge your muscles in unique ways. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a change in their usual lower body work.
